In good news for farmers , the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned a special limit of Rs. 21,000 crore to district central cooperative banks to help agriculture through the demonetisation transition phase, DEA Secretary Shaktikanta Das announced during a media conference on Wednesday.
RBI, banks, Nabard have been instructed to make available cash to co-operative banks to ensure farmers get credit and certain amount in cash, said Das.
“PSU (Public Sector Undertakings) and some private sector banks have agreed to waive off service charges on use of debit card till Dec 31. The Indian railways have also decided to waive off service charges on e-tickets booked till the end of 2016,” he added.
“Also, all digital transactions through feature phones will not be levied with service charges till Dec 31,” he said, while adding that all government organisations, PSUs and agencies have been advised to use digital payment for paying salaries and other expenses
