Kerala Gender Park CEO, P T M Sunish, who spearheaded a number of women-friendly initiatives including the country’s first all-women taxi cab network ‘She Taxi’, has been invited to the US government’s prestigious Thematic International Exchange Seminar, which will be held in Kathmandu from Monday.

Organised by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the five-day Alumni TIES will have 40 alumni of US government-sponsored exchange programs from nine countries in South and Central Asia.

The Gender Park is an innovative initiative of the Department of Social Justice, Government of Kerala. Located on a 24 acre campus at Kozhikode, Kerala, the Gender Park is a space that brings together state, academia and civil society to a common platform on all gender-related issues, from research and training to ideation and cultural enquiry. The Gender Park is the first space of its kind in the world and aims to become the premier convergence point for gender related activities in the region.

Experts in the fields, ranging from agriculture, banking, economic development, digital technology, finance, microcredit, small business development to social enterprise and women’s entrepreneurship will be the participants. Sunish will speak on the topic of ‘Strengthening the Business Climate for Women Entrepreneurs’.

Participants will have the opportunity to establish a cross-border network of business leaders and entrepreneurs, learn how to mobilize small business enterprises, examine national and regional policies that promote women’s entrepreneurship and develop business and entrepreneurial teaching skills to empower others.

The seminar will serve the dual function of being both a professional development workshop and a practical thematic seminar.

Through a variety of panel discussions, learning labs, small group discussions and site visits, participants will share initiatives that promote women’s entrepreneurship in the region and strategise how to create business climates for women to succeed.
